I'm proud to serve on the planning committee for the Special Olympics State Outdoor Championships. It is our task to plan a memorable event for these deserving athletes. I hope you will help us in our efforts.

The State Outdoor Championships will be held in Columbia August 7 and 8.  This state level event features competition in tennis, golf and softball.  More than 700 athletes are expected to attend.  This event provides the playing field for our athletes to show their skills in an environment of quality competition and good sportmanship.  The event costs more than $55,629 to put on.  Community support and corporate sponsorships are necessary to make this experience possible.

We're more than sports, however; our program gives athletes the confidence and skills to hold jobs, get better grades and earn respect. Special Olympics Missouri was founded in 1971. What began as a track meet with a few hundred athletes has grown to serve more than 15,000 athletes with more than 150 competitions annually.
